Position Overview:
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for performing repetitive, detail-oriented assembly tasks to produce residential gas meters. This role requires precision, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to maintain quality and efficiency in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble gas meter components following standardized procedures and production schedules.
- Perform mechanical and basic electrical assembly using hand tools, power tools, and fixtures.
- Follow detailed work instructions, including color coding, PVC thermal welding, and thread taping.
- Conduct basic testing of assembled components to ensure functionality and quality standards are met.
- Read and interpret simple assembly drawings, layouts, and work instructions.
- Accurately record work hours and production data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), as required.
- Complete all required production and quality documentation.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with 5S and continuous improvement practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in daily housekeeping audits.
- Ensure internal and external customer expectations are consistently met.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience, technical training, or hands-on activities.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform precise, repetitive tasks with accuracy.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and use hands continuously throughout the shift.
- Frequent walking, writing, and computer use.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures (0°F to 120°F), noise, dust, and industrial surfaces such as concrete.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $19.50 per hour
