Job Title: Director of Hospice

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Director of Hospice who will be responsible for recruiting, training and development, and providing oversight to the hospice staff and team. The Director will oversee chart audits and clinical functions in compliance with company policy and procedure, State and Federal regulations, and physician orders. The Director will also be responsible for directing the interdisciplinary team (IDT/IDG) and working closely with the Administrator to ensure compliance while maintaining excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will set the standard in communication, knowledge, and self-discipline as the leader of the hospice program but also as a representative of AAAWA. The candidate understands that at AAAWA, the client comes first, collaboration is second, and all is performed while maintaining a cost-efficient program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Oversee that clients in the Hospice program receive excellent care. If needed, the Director shall perform hospice visits and will learn various software such as EMR systems, My Analytics, and other programs required of the organization.
- Monitoring: Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Hospice program, along with monitoring expenses and developing the program. The Director shall be astute in setting goals and monitoring outcomes as it relates to annual management goals. They will also ensure quality measures and performance improvement plans (PIP) of the Hospice program are met.
- Collaboration: Act as a liaison between staff, patients, Medical Director, management, and the governing board. Attend bi-weekly IDT/IDG meetings, daily huddles, monthly compliance meetings and weekly department head meetings with the CEO and CFO in addition to attending the annual All Staff meeting. Assist other departments, if needed, in an all-hands situation.
- Supervision: Ensure staff under the Director are competent in knowledge and skill set, Medicare and State regulations, and company policies. Perform or oversee evaluation visits on staff to monitor compliance with federal and state regulations and risk management standards. Set productivity goals and hold nursing staff accountable, as well as performing hiring, terminating, and coaching/counseling staff, as needed. Conduct new hire and annual evaluations of direct reports.
- Education: Coordinate in-service and educational activities for nursing staff and Home Health Aides in compliance with standards. Participate in the development and implementation of a staff hospice educational program to be performed at least annually, or as needed.
- Productivity/Goals/Audits: The Director will review OKRs/KPIs set by the agency and/or LTM Group. Assures that chart audits are completed as required and that corrective actions are completed, if needed.
- Documentation: Ensure documentation is completed on time by nursing and Aide staff. Review and/or revise procedures and policies to be compliant with regulations. Assures policy and procedure manuals are complete and up to date. Coordinate audit and survey requests via appropriate channels such as CMS or ADRs.
- Payroll & Expenses: Approve direct report payroll every other week. Approve overtime and time off requests for direct reports. Review expenses and monthly P&L reports with the expectation to break-even or show profit as quickly as possible through growth, adherence to regulations and the recruitment of staff that are the right fit for the program.
- Complaints: Review all complaints, incidents, and/or grievances to ensure that they are fully documented and an investigation is carried out with a result provided to the compliance committee.
- On-Call Rotation: Participate in scheduled on-call shift rotation as a backup, when needed.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the care team and patients.

Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current Registered Nursing license from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
- Five plus years of Hospice experience required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current CPR certificate.
- Ability to travel out-of-the area and overnight.
- Ability to proficiently use and perform key functions of MS Office programs, patient EMR system, and other programs.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Hospice, home health nursing management, regulations, and OASIS.
