What are the responsibilities and job description for the UTV Race Mechanic Apprentice position at ARD Racing?
UTV Race Mechanic Apprentice – ARD Racing
Location: Burleson, Texas
Position: Full-Time Apprentice
Motorsports Experience Is a Plus – But Not Required
ABOUT ARD RACING
ARD Racing is a high-performance UTV race shop based in Burleson, Texas. We build, prep, maintain, and support race-winning UTVs in competitive off-road racing.
We're not a dealership or an oil-change shop. This is a real race shop where the days can be long, the work can be dirty, and race weekends can be demanding.
We're looking for an Apprentice Race Mechanic who wants to learn the racing industry from the ground up. You don't need to know everything coming in — we're looking for someone with the right attitude, work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn.
You'll work alongside our experienced mechanics and learn how a professional UTV race team prepares, maintains, and supports race vehicles.
WHAT YOU'LL DO & LEARN
- Assist with building, prepping, and maintaining race-spec Can-Am, Polaris, and other UTVs
- Learn proper race vehicle preparation and inspection
- Assist mechanics with mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Learn suspension, drivetrain, braking, and electrical systems
- Learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Assist with race-day repairs and maintenance
- Work in the shop and trackside at race events
- Help prepare race vehicles before and after events
- Follow direction from experienced mechanics and the crew chief
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
- Learn proper shop practices and professional race-team procedures
- Do whatever is needed to help the team get the job done!
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Willingness to learn is the #1 requirement
- Strong work ethic and dependable
- Mechanically inclined
- Positive attitude
- Able to take direction and constructive criticism
- Willing to start with the basics and work your way up
- Comfortable working with your hands and getting dirty
- Able to work long days and demanding race weekends
- Good hygiene and presentable appearance
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Must be willing and able to travel
- Motorsports, automotive, UTV, or mechanical experience is a plus, but not required
- Must be able to pass a drug test
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
This is an apprenticeship, not a classroom job.
You'll learn by working alongside experienced race mechanics, getting hands-on experience, and taking on more responsibility as your skills develop.
You'll be expected to work hard, pay attention, ask questions, take direction, and earn your way up.
Racing doesn't always mean a 9-to-5 schedule. There will be long days, late nights, tight deadlines, dirty hands, and weekends at the track.
But if you're serious about learning the trade and want to build a future in UTV racing, this is an opportunity to get your foot in the door and learn from a competitive race team.
