Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and report findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Support clients with medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare providers.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings, ensuring client safety at all times.
- Document patient observations, care activities, and progress in compliance with home health or long-term care standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is preferred.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, and basic first aid including CPR certification.
- Familiarity with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance techniques.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, manual handling, and assist with mobility tasks safely.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information.
