Job Summary

Arctic Owl AC & Heat is seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team as an independent contractor (1099). The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and repair skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience servicing residential air conditioning and heating systems. Technicians will be responsible for diagnosing HVAC issues, performing repairs and maintenance, communicating recommendations to customers, and ensuring every job is completed safely and professionally. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, and mini-split systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, tune-ups, and system inspections to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
  • Identify system issues and provide customers with clear explanations and repair recommendations.
  • Complete service calls in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Install and replace HVAC components such as capacitors, contactors, motors, thermostats, and other system parts.
  • Document service findings, repairs performed, and recommendations using company software and work orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at customer locations.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and represent Arctic Owl AC & Heat professionally at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with office staff regarding job status, parts needs, and scheduling updates.
  • Participate in occasional on-call or emergency service opportunities as needed.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Knowledge of residential HVAC systems and controls.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience recommending repair and replacement options to customers.

  • Perform refrigerant diagnostics, leak detection, evacuation, and charging procedures in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Document service findings, repairs performed, and recommendations using company software and work orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at customer locations.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and represent Arctic Owl AC & Heat professionally at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with office staff regarding job status, parts needs, and scheduling updates.
  • Participate in occasional on-call or emergency service opportunities as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of residential HVAC service experience (preferred, but strong newer techs may be considered)
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
  • Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential HVAC systems
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle, electrical components, and airflow diagnostics
  • Experience with common HVAC repairs (capacitors, contactors, motors, thermostats, refrigerant issues)
  • Ability to safely handle refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging procedures
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must have own basic HVAC hand tools
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals
  • Professional attitude and ability to represent the company in customers’ homes
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Physical ability to lift equipment, work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • NATE certification
  • Sales experience in HVAC repair or replacement recommendations
  • Experience using service software/apps for invoicing and reporting

Pay: From $600.00 per week
