Position Summary

The HVAC Install Technician is responsible for the professional installation, replacement, startup, and commissioning of residential HVAC systems, residential new construction HVAC systems, and light commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs). This position ensures every installation is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications, local building codes, and Arctic Air of Northern Florida's quality standards.

The Install Technician serves as a representative of Arctic Air of Northern Florida, LLC and is expected to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment. Every installation should reflect the company's commitment to quality craftsmanship, integrity, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

The HVAC Install Technician is responsible for installing and commissioning:

Residential Replacement Systems

  • Remove and replace existing HVAC systems.
  • Install split systems, heat pumps, gas furnaces, air handlers, package units, mini-split systems, thermostats, zoning systems, and indoor air quality products.
  • Modify duct transitions, plenums, condensate drains, refrigerant piping, and electrical connections as required.

Residential New Construction

  • Install complete HVAC systems in newly constructed homes.
  • Install ductwork, boots, registers, grilles, line sets, condensate drainage systems, equipment pads, thermostats, and ventilation systems.
  • Coordinate installation activities with builders, project managers, and other trades.
  • Complete rough-in, trim-out, startup, and final commissioning according to construction schedules.
  • Read blueprints, construction drawings, and HVAC layouts to ensure proper installation.

Light Commercial Installation

  • Install light commercial rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, exhaust fans, make-up air units, and related HVAC equipment.
  • Assist with crane lifts and rooftop equipment placement while following all applicable safety procedures.
  • Install commercial curb adapters, economizers, duct transitions, gas piping, electrical connections, condensate drainage, and controls as required.
  • Verify proper system operation, airflow, refrigerant charge, and equipment performance before project completion.

General Installation Duties

  • Perform system startup, evacuation, charging, testing, and commissioning procedures.
  • Verify proper airflow, refrigerant charge, electrical operation, thermostat functionality, and system performance.
  • Ensure all installations comply with manufacturer specifications, Florida Mechanical Code, local building codes, and company quality standards.
  • Complete startup documentation, installation checklists, warranty registrations, and job documentation accurately.
  • Educate homeowners, builders, or commercial customers on proper equipment operation, filter maintenance, thermostat operation, and warranty information.
  • Maintain clean and organized jobsites throughout every project.
  • Protect customer property by using floor protection, drop cloths, and proper cleanup procedures.
  • Safely transport and handle HVAC equipment and materials.
  • Maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and manufacturer certification programs.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Installation Manager.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED.

· Minimum of two (2) years of HVAC installation experience preferred.

· Experience installing residential replacement systems.

· Experience with residential new construction HVAC installations preferred.

· Experience installing or assisting with light commercial rooftop units (RTUs) preferred.

· EPA Universal Certification.

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

· Ability to pass background screening and drug testing, where applicable.

· Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications.

· Working knowledge of refrigeration, electrical systems, airflow, ductwork, brazing, and HVAC controls.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· HVAC Trade School Certification.

· Experience operating lifts and working on commercial rooftops.

· Sheet metal fabrication experience.

· Experience with variable-speed and inverter HVAC systems.

· Air balancing and duct design knowledge.

· Commercial controls experience.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires the ability to:

· Lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.

· Work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and confined spaces.

· Climb ladders and work safely at elevated heights.

· Work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions.

· Bend, kneel, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods.

· Safely operate power tools, ladders, lifts, and installation equipment.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
