Position Summary
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and indoor air quality systems. This position plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and workmanship.
As a representative of Arctic Air of Northern Florida, LLC, the Service Technician is expected to demonstrate integrity, technical excellence, professionalism, and outstanding customer service during every customer interaction. Technicians are responsible for educating customers on repair options, preventative maintenance, energy-saving opportunities, and comfort solutions while building long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, thermostats, mini-splits, and indoor air quality products.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to Arctic Air maintenance standards.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, airflow, mechanical, and control system issues.
- Explain repair options clearly and honestly to customers.
- Recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, maintenance agreements, and system improvements that benefit the customer.
- Complete all service tickets, inspection reports, estimates, invoices, and documentation accurately using the company's field service software.
- Collect required customer signatures and payments when applicable.
- Maintain truck inventory and ensure proper stocking of commonly used materials.
- Keep assigned company vehicle clean, organized, and professionally maintained.
- Properly care for all company-issued tools, equipment, tablets, and communication devices.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain EPA certification requirements and comply with refrigerant handling regulations.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and emergency after-hours service.
- Attend company meetings, technical training, and continuing education programs.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company dress code.
- Respect customers' homes by using shoe covers, floor protection, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, management, and fellow employees.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Service Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of residential HVAC service experience preferred.
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing, where applicable.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NATE Certification.
- HVAC Trade School Certification.
- Experience servicing inverter systems.
- Smart thermostat installation and programming experience.
- Indoor Air Quality product knowledge.
- Residential sales and customer education experience.
Physical Requirements
This position regularly requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and confined spaces.
- Climb ladders safely.
- Work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
- Bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and stand for extended periods.
- Operate power tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
