Basic Function and Overview:
Are you the kind of person who checks the weather before bed and wakes up eager to see how much snow fell overnight? Do you love to ski or ride and have a knack for words and creative and trending visuals? As the 25/26 Snow Reporter, you’ll have the opportunity to combine both.
We’re looking for a strong writer and communicator who wants to capture the story of each day on the mountain. From fresh powder mornings to hard and fast corduroy, you’ll have a pulse on the conditions and culture of the mountain, and find ways share it with our community through clear, engaging updates. You’ll be the voice of the mountain in our daily snow reports, website updates, and social posts, while also helping the marketing team capture authentic, on-brand content throughout the season.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Snow Reporting & Communications (Primary)
- Arrive early (around 6:00 AM) to gather the latest weather, snow totals, and operations updates.
- Collaborate with Mountain Operations, Patrol, and Lift departments to confirm trail openings, lift status, grooming reports, and more.
- Write and publish accurate, timely snow reports across website, app, and third-party platforms.
- Draft short, engaging scripts for snow phone updates, daily emails, and on-camera segments.
- Maintain the brand’s voice and tone — informative, reliable, and full of mountain personality.
Marketing & Content Support (Secondary)
- Capture and share photos or short video clips highlighting daily conditions, events, and guests enjoying the mountain.
- Draft social captions, newsletter blurbs, and website updates that align with our brand style.
- Assist in organizing photo and video library.
- Support on-site events, PR visits, and marketing activations as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent writing and communication skills - you can translate raw information into engaging, on-brand messaging.
- Strong understanding of voice and tone, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to ski or snowboard in intermediate terrain confidently in all conditions.
- Comfortable working outdoors in winter weather and arriving early in the morning.
- Interest in photography, videography, and social media trends.
- Self-starter who can work independently and stay organized under tight deadlines.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 or older and have reliable winter transportation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- Background in ski industry, resort operations, or outdoor media.
- Familiarity with platforms like WordPress, Instagram, Meta, TikTok, etc.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Associates or some college experience preferred.
- Will consider a combination of education and experience.
Schedule:
- Early morning starts (typically 6:00 AM).
- 40 hours per week during winter season.
- Weekends and holidays required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Working in an outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions such as wind, snow, sleet, and cold temperatures.
