We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive individual to join our team as a mechanical Estimator / Project Manager to support our growing operations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager to join our team in Morgantown, WV. This dual-role position is critical to our operations, bridging the gap between accurate pre-construction forecasting and successful field execution.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of Mechanical and Plumbing systems and the ability to manage projects from the bid phase through closeout. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and field superintendents, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Bid Management: Lead the preparation of complete cost estimates for Mechanical projects, including conceptual, design-build, and plan-and-spec bids.
- Quantity Take-offs: Perform accurate material and labor take-offs using digital estimating software.
- Vendor Coordination: Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and scope coverage.
- Risk Analysis: Review bid documents, drawings, and specifications to identify potential risks, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
- Proposal Creation: Prepare detailed proposal letters outlining scope, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for clients.
Project Management
- Project Execution: Oversee the full lifecycle of assigned Mechanical projects, serving as the lead for scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
- Financial Control: Track project costs, manage change orders, review pay applications, and ensure profitability targets are met.
- Field Support: Conduct regular site visits in the Morgantown area and surrounding regions to monitor progress, enforce safety protocols, and resolve technical conflicts.
- Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the owner, general contractor, engineers, and field staff.
- Closeout: Manage the project closeout process, including as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranty documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience with 2 years minimum or 2 years or more of prior experience in this field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mechanical estimating or project management or a Degree.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Autobid, Trimble, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with West Virginia building codes and safety regulations.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and excellent written/verbal communication.
