What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Director position at Arcola School District?
Job Summary
This position provides managerial oversight of the district’s buildings and grounds. In addition, this position ensures that routine maintenance and repairs on, and within all buildings of the district are performed accurately and efficiently to keep them in optimal working condition.
Duties
1. Works closely with building and grounds director to ensure overall planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair requirements of the district.
2. Works closely with building and grounds director to inspect all buildings, grounds, and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained.
3. Communicate effectively with department staff, school, and district personnel.
4. Collaborate with schools and departments to set priorities and provide service.
5. Provide Cost Impact analyses as requested.
6. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
7. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly.
8. Survey classrooms daily and dusts appropriate furniture, files, bookcases, and window sills.
9. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the principal.
10. Evaluate work orders to determine priorities and estimates on equipment, materials, and time to complete projects.
11. Provide leadership for staff to fulfill the district’s goals and objectives related to facility and maintenance services.
12. Demonstrate initiative and proactive orientation to recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems.
13. Assist in the selection of maintenance department employees and encourage their growth and efficiency of service.
14. Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide others toward task accomplishment.
15. Maintain current working knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to facility maintenance.
16. Assist with the development of school facility construction plans.
17. Make recommendations for the development of an annual budget for facility maintenance.
18. Assist in compliance with EPA, OSHA, and Health Department standards.
19. Supervise assigned personnel, conducts annual performance appraisals, and makes recommendations for appropriate employment actions.
Experience
1. Experience in heating and air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, and construction preferred.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
