Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead critical components of our accounting operations. This role will oversee the monthly close process, manage a team of accountants, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting across multiple dealership locations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation, leadership experience, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to help scale and streamline our financial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports are completed accurately and on schedule
• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of staff and senior accountants, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal financial reporting packages
• Maintain and monitor general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
• Partner closely with dealership operations to understand and analyze financial performance by location
• Oversee the preparation and review of lot-level income statements and operating reports
• Analyze key accounting areas including deferred revenue, reserves, and fixed assets
• Manage tax-related filings such as personal property taxes and estimated payments in collaboration with external partners
• Ensure accurate accounting for repossessions, recoveries, and charge-offs
• Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and process improvements
• Serve as a key resource for external auditors and regulatory compliance efforts
• Collaborate with senior finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives
• Step in for the Controller or Principal Accounting Officer when needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA preferred)
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger systems, and internal control frameworks
• Automotive industry experience or multi-location retail environment preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership qualities with a collaborative, team-first approach
