Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead critical components of our accounting operations. This role will oversee the monthly close process, manage a team of accountants, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting across multiple dealership locations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation, leadership experience, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to help scale and streamline our financial processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports are completed accurately and on schedule
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of staff and senior accountants, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal financial reporting packages
- Maintain and monitor general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Partner closely with dealership operations to understand and analyze financial performance by location
- Oversee the preparation and review of lot-level income statements and operating reports
- Analyze key accounting areas including deferred revenue, reserves, and fixed assets
- Manage tax-related filings such as personal property taxes and estimated payments in collaboration with external partners
- Ensure accurate accounting for repossessions, recoveries, and charge-offs
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and process improvements
- Serve as a key resource for external auditors and regulatory compliance efforts
- Collaborate with senior finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives
- Step in for the Controller or Principal Accounting Officer when needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA preferred)
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger systems, and internal control frameworks
- Automotive industry experience or multi-location retail environment preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership qualities with a collaborative, team-first approach
