Position Summary
The School of Architecture, in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor (with an initial term of one to three years, full-time) to teach design studios, lecture courses and seminars, advance research in their area of expertise, and assist with administrative services. Demonstrated expertise in non-Western perspectives and contexts is preferred.
The School of Architecture offers five degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies; a professional, NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture; a post-professional Master of Science in Architecture; and a Master of Arts in Design Criticism.
This position is intended to be eligible for benefits. This includes Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement Plan, Paid time Off, and Tuition waivers for employees and dependents.
Duties And Responsibilities
Terminal professional degree (Master of Architecture or international equivalent) and a minimum of three years teaching experience required. Relevant Master degree preferred.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate architectural history and theory core and gen-ed lecture courses
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate architectural history and theory seminar courses
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate studios
- Contributing to academic advising within the Master of Arts in Design Criticism program
- Conducting clinical, specialized, and educational research in areas related to architectural design and architectural history and theory
- Producing scholarly publications and presenting research at academic and professional conferences
- Serving on departmental and college committees, and contributing to academic governance and strategic planning
- Supporting curriculum development and accreditation processes
- Assisting with organizing departmental events and engaging in student advising
