Technical Architectural Drafter / Documentation Consultant Based in New York City

Outfit Home is a California-based residential interior design studio specializing in thoughtfully designed, highly detailed homes. We are seeking an experienced Technical Architectural Drafter or Architectural Designer to support our team on a consulting basis. Ideal candidates are available to begin immediately or within the next few weeks.

Initially, this role will involve several days per week to develop comprehensive drawing packages for contractor pricing and construction. Once the primary documentation is complete, the position will transition into an ongoing consulting role requiring only a few hours per week for revisions, coordination, and in person project support.

We are looking for someone that enjoys the technical side of residential design and prefers flexible consulting work over a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawing sets from design direction provided by Outfit Home.
• Develop custom millwork, cabinetry, and furniture drawings to build from.
• Prepare construction documents suitable for contractor pricing and fabrication.
• Collaborate with the design team to refine furniture layouts through ongoing fit studies, ensuring scale, circulation, and functionality are resolved throughout the design process.
• Conduct occasional site visits to verify field conditions, take measurements, and document existing conditions to support accurate construction documentation.
• Coordinate drawing revisions and consultant feedback throughout each project.
• Work closely with the principal designer to translate design intent into clear, buildable documentation.
• Assist with technical detailing and drawing coordination as projects progress.
  
  

Qualifications

• Strong AutoCAD proficiency
• Experience producing construction documents for high-end residential projects
• Thorough understanding of custom millwork and cabinetry with ability to produce detailed plans, elevations, sections, and furniture details to build from.
• Familiarity with residential construction methods and fabrication processes
• Highly organized with excellent communication skills
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a remote design team
  
  

Position Details

• Consulting / freelance position
• Initial commitment of approximately 2–3 days per week
• Long-term relationship with an ongoing commitment of several hours per week after the primary drawing package is complete
• Remote position but candidates need to be located in the New York area and familiar with local consultants and trades
