von Staden Architects. We are a boutique architecture and design firm with a collaborative studio located in Royal Oak, MI. and a fabrication shop in Detroit, MI. The studio is lead by RISD and Cranbrook Academy of Art graduate, Tamas von Staden and Gail von Staden, AIA.

Our practice focuses on creating environments that spark change, re-invention, and diversity within our community.

You’re a Good Fit If You

• Have at least 10 years experience working in an architecture firm
• Love design work and love to see that design through documentation and detail into construction
• Find hard work rewarding and believe that working collaboratively, in-person with others is the best way to practice architecture
• Can move between Rhino/SketchUp and Autocad, developing design solutions and seamlessly move into construction drawings
• Believe that communication is the core of what we do as Architects
• Present yourself and your work with a love for visual communication
• Understand technical detailing and how buildings come together
• Share your quick mind and a sense of humor, and can tell a good story
• Can work permanently in the US
  
  

When You Work At VSA, You Can Expect To

• Work on a variety of project types from mixed-use adaptive reuse to commercial office to high end residential projects in Detroit and its near and far surrounds.
• Analyze sites, validate as-built documentation, develop code compliance strategies
• Explore design using Rhino, Sketch-up, sketches on trace, hand model making
• Develop visual narratives for design presentations
• Draw and detail Construction documents
• Communicate with team members, consultants, clients, and contractors
• Heat your lunch in a convection oven. No microwave here!
• Drink good coffee in the morning, and wine on some late afternoons.

• Competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $80-$95k/yr
