Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The EMT will be responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients in various settings, including pre-hospital environments and during transport to medical facilities. The ideal candidate will possess critical care experience, strong patient assessment skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate medical care and transportation for patients in emergency situations.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer basic life support and advanced airway management as needed.
- Perform triage effectively in high-stress environments, ensuring priority treatment for critical patients.
- Document patient information accurately, including vital signs, medical history, and treatment provided.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care during transport.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to provide informed care.
- Utilize aseptic techniques when administering injections or performing procedures such as venipuncture.
- Engage in critical care transport when necessary, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during transit.
- Assist with heavy lifting of patients and equipment as required in emergency situations.
Requirements
- Valid EMT certification with experience in emergency medicine; prior EMT experience is essential.
- Critical care experience preferred, particularly in Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency rooms.
- Familiarity with urgent care settings is a plus.
- Proficient in patient care practices, including medication administration and physical examinations.
- Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring and DME (Durable Medical Equipment) usage.
- Ability to drive emergency vehicles safely under various conditions while adhering to traffic laws.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
