World Languages At Seattle Prep
We believe that learning and acquisition of world languages provides opportunities for students to make connections with, participate in, learn from, and become part of both local and international communities. Seattle Prep offers three languages: German, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
Our courses are designed to develop cultural awareness, understanding and appreciation of respective communities by helping students develop proficiency in listening, reading, speaking and writing using authentic materials and real-life situations.
Essential Functions
Salary Range: $26,619 - $46,613 annually. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
This position is not benefits eligible.

World Languages At Seattle Prep

Essential Functions
- Teach Mandarin by imparting knowledge, skills, and expertise to students. Responsible for curriculum development, assessment, classroom management, family communication.
- Collaborate with department teachers to ensure consistency and interdisciplinary goals of the program.
- Engage fully in the life of the school: this includes supervision of students, participation in meetings, retreats, professional development, and all school masses and assemblies.
- Fulfill additional supervision duties of full-time teachers (e.g. study hall)
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mandarin or a related field of study, and a minimum of two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
- All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Prep's mission and values, especially as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Supportive of the mission of a Catholic, Jesuit high school and formation of the whole person
- Expertise with a variety of teaching methodologies and ability to teach various courses and grade levels
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues
- Willing participation in the co-curricular and Campus Ministry aspects of the school
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth
- All employees must complete a criminal history background check and safe environment training upon hire and every 3 years
- A Master's Degree in Teaching, Mandarin, or related field of study is preferred
- Five or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a high school, is preferred
- Experience with Jesuit, Catholic education is preferred
- Washington State Teaching Credential, or other appropriate certification is preferred
