Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is seeking an Instructional & Extended Care Aide. This position plays not only a crucial role in supporting the academic and spiritual development of students in grades K-8 in classrooms, but it also provides an appropriately safe, caring, and enriching environment for the students, PreK-8, enrolled in the extended-care program. The dual role will work under the guidance of the extended care program director as well as classroom teachers to help create a nurturing, inclusive, and effective learning environment in line with the Catholic faith and the school's mission. - Classroom Support:
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities that align with the school's curriculum and Catholic teachings.
- Support individual and small groups of students to reinforce learning objectives and provide differentiated instruction.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials, supplies, and classroom resources.
- Student Assistance:
- Provide one-on-one support to students who require additional assistance, including those with special needs, following Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) where applicable.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and other school functions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Foster a supportive and caring relationship with students, encouraging their social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents, as needed, to support student learning and well-being.
- Assist with maintaining student records, tracking progress, and documenting any concerns or achievements.
- School and Community Involvement
- Participate in school activities, events, and religious observances, modeling and promoting the values of the Catholic faith.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to contribute to a positive school culture and community.
- Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and understanding of Catholic education.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required.
- Extended Care Aide additions:
- Maintain an environment that promotes cooperation, learning, and enjoyment.
- Assists students with nightly homework and provides an environment of cooperative relationships within grade levels during outdoor play.
- Assists in overseeing student behavior in all environments after school
- Light cleaning
- Reports, during extended care time, to the Program Director
- Experience in classroom setting (i.e. paraprofessional, instructional aide, classroom teacher) or similar work experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred
- Ability to manage large or small groups of children
- Supervisory and leadership skills
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (certification will be provided if needed)
- Background Check and VIRTUS course (Provided upon hire)
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to life and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Capacity to engage in active supervision of students, both indoors and outdoors
