Job Summary
Description of Position: The successful candidate will primarily teach Strength and Conditioning classes during the academic school day. Depending on the school's scheduling needs, the candidate may also be assigned to teach one or more sections of Physical Education. Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, maintaining accurate records, and fostering a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment. Rooted in our Catholic mission, the Strength and Conditioning Teacher serves not only as a fitness expert but also as a role model who fosters integrity, discipline, teamwork, and Catholic values both in and out of the weight room. Key Responsibilities: • Program Development: Design and implement age-appropriate, evidence-based strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs for male and female students. • Instruction & Technique: Teach proper lifting mechanics, movement patterns, and safety protocols to minimize the risk of injury and optimize athletic performance. • Mission Integration: Support the spiritual and character formation of student-athletes, modeling Catholic values and promoting sportsmanship and respect. • Equipment & Facility Upkeep: Ensure the weight room, gym, and training areas remain clean, organized, and tidy after each session, including proper sanitization and storage of all equipment. • Academic Instruction & Grading: Design curriculum, deliver daily instruction, maintain accurate attendance, and issue grades for assigned Physical Education/Weight Training classes in accordance with school policies and grading schedules. • Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress using objective movement assessments, participation rubrics, and fitness testing to determine quarter and semester grades. • School Information System (SIS) Management: Timely log grades, progress reports, and feedback into the school’s academic portals (Canvas and Aeries) for parents and administration.
Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements/Education & Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Management, or a related field required. Current Certification from a recognized national governing body (NSCA: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) OR CSCCA: Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) preferred. • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. • Ability to pass required background checks and complete Archdiocesan Youth Protection Training (VIRTUS). • Prior high school or collegiate level coaching experience preferred.
