Position Overview
We are seeking a high-energy, personable Sports Performance Coach to join our team. This role is focused on coaching and implementing MAP’s training systems, not writing programs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, connects well with athletes, and can confidently coach movements while making real-time adjustments (regressions and progressions) based on athlete needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute MAP’s pre-designed training programs with precision and intent
• Lead individual and group training sessions with energy, professionalism, and strong communication
• Coach proper technique in strength, speed, agility, and movement mechanics
• Make appropriate regressions and progressions to exercises based on athlete ability, limitations, and goals
• Assist with athlete assessments and re-assessments
• Utilize performance technology (including VALD Force Plates) during sessions and testing
• Ensure athletes are engaged, motivated, and training in a safe environment
• Build strong relationships with athletes to enhance retention and overall experience
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field (required or in progress)
• Experience coaching in a sports performance, strength & conditioning, or fitness setting (1 year preferred)
• Certification(s) such as CSCS, NASM, or equivalent (or currently pursuing)
• Strong understanding of movement mechanics and functional training principles
• Ability to confidently modify exercises (regress/progress) in real time
• Familiarity with VALD systems (Force Plates) or similar performance technology
• Excellent interpersonal skills — must be personable, energetic, and engaging
• Strong communication and ability to coach athletes of all ages and skill levels
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
Preferred Skills
• Experience working with youth, high school, or collegiate athletes
• Background in baseball/softball performance (plus)
• Familiarity with athlete tracking or gym management software
• Interest in performance data and technology-driven training
