Immaculate Conception Catholic School, founded in 1959 is a vibrant parish school that serves
over 189; preschool through eighth-grade students and 126 families. The school is fully
accredited by the Michigan Non-Public Schools Accrediting Association (MNSAA) and
continues to be a high-performing school. Immaculate Conception is seeking a dynamic,
collaborative educator whose leadership will ensure the continuation of an outstanding
academic and faith-based program and who will continue to promote the mission of the school.
The principal is responsible for managing the daily operations of the school as well as the
institutional advancement of the school, which includes implementation of the strategic plan,
religious and spiritual leadership, school operations, advancement and community relations,
financial management, and enrollment

Primary Responsibilities:
Religious and Spiritual Leadership
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to the Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Develops a school climate reflecting Catholic identity
- Supports and adheres to the teachings of the Catholic Church, Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Detroit
- Promotes Catholic identity within the school through liturgical celebrations, faith development, integration of Gospel values, and the practice of Christian service
- Ensures that the religious instruction of students meets the guidelines set forth by the Archdiocese of Detroit
Academic Leadership
- Ensures the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum through the use of a variety of pedagogical strategies
- Supervises instruction and evaluates the overall effectiveness of the academic program
- Maintains the accreditation of the school according to MANS standards
- Oversees ongoing orientation and staff development in both educational and faith development of faculty and staff
Strategic and Visionary Leadership
- Identifies and effects needed change for school improvement
- Works effectively with the advisory committee to establish goals for school effectiveness
- Oversees development goals and activities and seeks resources and support beyond the school
- Identifies, applies for and budgets for grants that help the school programs and vitality
School Operations
- Establishes and coordinates school calendars and schedules
- Hires, supervises, evaluates, and terminates all faculty and staff according to Archdiocesan guidelines
- Maintains current and accurate records according to Archdiocesan and school policy
- Reviews, maintains and advances health and safety policies and infrastructure of the school
Financial Management
- Partners with business manager regarding the school budget and supervises all expenditures
- Makes informed decisions about resource allocation and expenditures
- Works together with school staff to ensure that financial resources are used effectively
- Carefully monitors spending to ensure it aligns with the budget and identifies potential areas for cost savings without compromising the quality of education
Advancement and Community Relations
- Assures proper marketing of the school through partnerships with the school’s social media, public relations individuals
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
- Fosters a sense and spirit of community and partnership among families
- Collaborates with the pastor and parish communities of the parish to strengthen religious education and community bonds
Credentials, Skills, And Experience:
- Master’s Educational Leadership, preferred.
- K-12 teaching/leadership experience in Catholic school setting
- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
