JOB PURPOSE: The Faith Formation Coordinator's (FFC) primary responsibility is to develop and implement religious education program for elementary, middle and high school age students, provide faith formation events and parent events. This is a full-time position on-site at the parish office in Rockland.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Functions
- Prepare and disseminate registration materials to students for the next session at the conclusion of current session's classes.
- Establish procedure for the collection and record keeping for each participant in the Faith Formation Program.
- Maintain accurate records associated with Religious Education and Vacation Bible School registration, tuition payments, attendance and student evaluation
- Maintain accurate records associated with sacramental preparation and celebrations.
- Develop budget for Faith Formation program annually and submit budget status quarterly or as requested by Pastor/Administrator. Manage all orders, purchases related to Faith Formation within the established budget.
- Distinguish expenses from the Religious Education Program and Faith Formation Activities
- Gain approval of the Pastor for any expenses of programs beyond what is directed by the Faith Formation Program and Budget.
- Meet regularly with the pastor for ongoing communication, planning, evaluation, progress status and implementation of parish programming; to provide constructive feedback on job performance and specific role requirements; to foster clarity; mutual understanding; and commitment regarding expectations, goals and development needs; to identify performance issues and provide opportunity for collaborative improvement planning; to provide the basis for employee development and recommendations.
- Maintain a liaison with the Diocesan Religious Education Office; Youth Ministry Office; Family Life Office; and Child Advocacy Office.
- Continue personal and spiritual formation as well as professional growth through reading and conferences as budget allows.
Program Development
- Develop a parish comprehensive Catechetical and Youth Ministry Program for grades PK - 12 including designing, developing, evaluating the curriculum for the Parish including catechetical and faith formation Programs in conjunction with the General Directory of Catechesis and the National Directory of Catechesis and Archdiocese of Boston guidelines.
- Design the program calendars and schedule events and service for youth in Grades PK - 12 including Sacramental programs in conjunction with pastor and school principal.
- Review, recommend to the pastor suitable textbooks and Teaching aids
- Develop Sacramental Preparation Programs for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist1Confirmation and RCIA for children, including parent instructions/meetings for the Sacraments of Baptism (Rite of Initiation for Children), Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
- Work in collaboration with the principal in order to integrate the school students and their parents with the Parish's sacramental program. Co-ordinate the parish sacramental programs with the school's sacramental programs.\
- Coordinate Sacramental and Faith Formation programs with the Music Director as needed.
- Establish, train and mentor a Faith Formation Team of adults to advise and implement the Faith Formation Program.
- Organize and encourage youth to participate in a range of parish activities including retreats, social activities, service projects and the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist.
- Provide parent meetings for all levels and 6 para-liturgical celebrations during the academic year
- Develop and implement four (4) intergenerational community faith festivals during the academic year.
- Develop a Vacation Bible school program including appropriate programming curriculum; and recruit leadership.
Program implementation
- Implement Religious Education/Faith Formation schedule for the year no later than September.
- Recruit and train adult teachers and other volunteers in the Religious Education/Faith Formation program. Provide guidance to adult teachers and other volunteers for professional development.
- Implement Sacramental Preparation Programs for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation and RCIA for children.
- Design and develop Service programs, classes, events for elementary, junior and senior high school students.
- Encourage the participation of parents and or guardians in all grade levels in order to enhance the religious development of the students and their families.
- Implement Vacation Bible School Program including overseeing the design and construction of physical sets; ensuring proper registration; and evaluation of entire program.
- Set up and breakdown tables and chairs, and transport the necessary materials to and from learning locations. Maintain cleanliness as required by school administration.
Coordinator of Child Advocacy and Safe Environment Programs
- Ensure compliance of the Policies and Procedures for the Protection of Children including the training of adults (>17yrs) to give surety of the proper administration of all parish programming and implementation and management of the Archdiocesan Mandated Safe Environment Education curriculum.
- Ensure every adult in the Religious Education/Faith Formation program has met the Diocesan requirements for "Protecting God's Children".
- Coordination and Implementation of Protecting God's Children for Adults Awareness Program.
- Coordination and Implementation of Talk about Touching for Grade 1 - 3.
- Coordination and Implementation of Keeping Kid's Safe Program for Grades 4 - 6.
- Coordination and Implementation of Middle School Safety Awareness Program.
- Maintain necessary records, forms and CORl"s of catechists, program leaders and youth participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must enjoy working with young people in 1st through 10th grades and want to share his/her faith in a creative and collaborative manner.
- Must be a practicing Catholic with a solid knowledge of Catholic doctrine.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and facilitation skills are required.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word and Excel are desirable as well as a familiarity with social networking tools and their use in ministry.
- BA degree in Religious Studies. and or recent graduate of Diocesan Certificate Program in Religious Education. Participation in continuing education as it relates to duties performed.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Coordinator's Role for religious education program is required.
