Summary of Position
The Design Engineer will support our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar team. This role is ideal for a motivated engineering professional with a strong foundation in civil and structural design, combined with strategic thinking and leadership capability. The Design Engineer will play a key role in front-end project development and design, helping bring large-scale solar projects from concept to reality—contributing to the continued growth of renewable energy infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead and support front-end civil and structural design for commercial and industrial solar projects
2. Develop engineering plans, site layouts, and design documentation
3. Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, field teams, and leadership
4. Provide strategic input on project feasibility, design optimization, and execution
5. Support and mentor team members as needed
6. Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
7. Stay current on industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies, including AI applications in engineering

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Education:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent, required
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering, preferred
Experience and/or training:
· 5-10 years’ of solar design and engineering experience, required
· Strong understanding of solar energy technologies and design principles, required
· Strong background in civil engineering with structural exposure, preferred
· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, required
· Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, NEC, and permitting requirements, required
· Proficiency in relevant software tools for design and analysis, required
· Experience in front-end design and project development
· Demonstrated leadership or strategic experience, required
Licenses/Certificates:
· Valid driver’s license with good driving record, proof of insurance, required
· NABCEP Associate (Design Specialist or similar), preferred
· Drone Part 107, required (if not obtained currently, obtain within first 90 days of employment
· Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure with the ability to provide electrical stamping, required
Technology/Equipment:
· Thorough knowledge and experience working in Microsoft Office
· Proficient in AutoCAD (2D & 3D/Mapping), required
· Proficient in Helioscope and Aurora, required
· Familiar with Orthomosaic software and drone mapping, required
· Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies within engineering workflows

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
