This role has both a management component together with a great deal of hands-on responsibilities for the day-to-day activities of the group. This role is hybrid (2 days remote, 3 days in the office), and will sit in either our Jersey City, NJ, Hartford, CT, Garden City, NY, or Philadelphia, PA office.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Manage the quarterly close process, including premium, loss, acquisition costs, preparation of Profit and Loss reporting, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, MD&A’s, and all other financial information used by the company in managing and analyzing our books of business.
- Manage a team of two onshore resources and oversight of three offshore resources.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure set-up of current and new business activities is accurate and efficient.
- Take part in special projects, including testing and implementation of new systems, process improvements (including early close issues) and data quality initiatives.
- Will have extensive interaction with various departments/disciplines at the group, including other areas in finance, actuarial, legal, reinsurance, claims and IT.
- Demonstrated leadership, people management and developmental skills.
- Capable of handling complex structured tasks that require close attention to timing and detail, as well as unplanned projects and challenges that require effective and unique solutions, often in a compressed timeframe.
- Experience with and exposure to various operational disciplines (actuarial, underwriting, claims, IT, etc.)
- Experience managing finance and accounting data.
- Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users.
- Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, Workday.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and present information in a clear and succinct manner.
- Ability to take part in active strategic discussions.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Minimum of 7 years of property and casualty insurance industry experience is highly desired
- Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant
- CPCU or other Insurance designations
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
For Jersey City: $123,600 - $166,900/year
- Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
