Brief Description

Position: Director of Lab Services

FLSA Status: Full-time/Exempt

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Preferred minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory, preferably in a clinic setting.
• Teaching experience is a plus
• Completion of an approved program of training for Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist. ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
  
  

Position Summary

The Director of Lab Services works as part of the health care team to improve the quality, safety, accuracy, and efficiency of health care services under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. The Director of Lab Services is responsible for the overall performance of the CLIA-waived companies and complex laboratories for quality and compliance in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, CDC, TJC and other applicable standards. The Director of Lab Services works with the Chief Nursing Officer in revising procedures, managing new clinic setups and applications, revising workflows, and creating uniformity throughout the organization.

Essential Functions

• Inspect laboratories and clinics on a scheduled basis for compliance in areas of safety, security, and laboratory quality.
• Coordinate new clinic setup and go live processes.
• Review and modify workflows as needed to ensure proper operations.
• Utilize professional judgment to assess the need for improvement or additional clinical/laboratory staff education.
• Provide education as needed.
• Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
• Maintain lab competency and lab inspection spreadsheets.
• Develop or revise laboratory policy and procedures
• Assist in communicating with reference laboratories, vendors, and departments in Arcare to ensure optimal operations.
• Perform data collection and interpretation to target areas of concern in all steps of the analytical process.
• Perform all duties in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with Arcare policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Many Arcare locations serve medically underserved communities. Eligible clinical team members may qualify for federal loan repayment programs through HRSA, including the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program and the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program. Eligibility and award approval are determined by HRSA based on role, location, discipline, and program requirements.
