Definition
Provide educationally related occupational therapy services to students with various disabilities according to the students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP); participate as a member of the educational team.

Education and Experience
Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying; graduation from an accredited occupational therapy education program.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: administrative policies, organization and operations; State and Federal laws and regulations governing occupational therapy; individual and group therapy techniques commonly used with students with special needs; interpersonal skills; record-keeping procedures.
Ability to: plan, organize and conduct an occupational therapy program for students with various disabilities; communicate effectively in the English language, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, staff, community agencies and others; effectively assess prospective students and develop appropriate plans of action in accordance with the IEP.
Licenses and other Requirements
Possession of a valid license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and certification as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
