Laundry

The Laundry Aide is responsible for collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing resident clothing, linens, and facility laundry. This position helps maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized environment while ensuring residents receive their personal clothing and linens in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect soiled linens, towels, resident clothing, and other laundry from designated areas.
• Sort laundry according to type, color, fabric, and washing requirements.
• Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
• Fold, hang, organize, and distribute clean laundry to resident rooms and facility departments.
• Label and identify resident clothing as required.
• Inspect laundry items for damage, stains, or needed repairs and report concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate separation of resident clothing to prevent loss or misplacement.
• Follow infection control procedures when handling soiled linens and contaminated materials.
• Ensure laundry areas remain clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Monitor laundry supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory is low.
• Follow all facility safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Attend required staff meetings and in-service training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a warm environment around laundry equipment.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, detergents, and disinfectants.
• Exposure to soiled linens and potentially infectious materials.
• Frequent contact with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Indoor work environment with exposure to heat and humidity from laundry equipment.
