Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately.
- Support medical staff by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of disease.
- Document patient care activities thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize patient transfer methods safely, including Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices, to prevent injury.
- Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health needs.
- Assist with medication administration under supervision and support medication management processes.
- Ensure safe manual handling practices during patient transfers or repositioning to minimize injury risks.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote understanding and comfort.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in long-term care facilities or hospitals is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner enhances documentation efficiency.
- Experience providing care in specialized settings including ICU, emergency medicine, hospice, or psychiatric units is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
- Experience handling medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or DME (durable medical equipment) is preferred.
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities ensure effective patient interactions and team collaboration.
