Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Infection Preventionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preventing and controlling infections within our facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires a strong background in nursing, public health, and infection control practices. The Infection Preventionist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention protocols while collaborating with various departments to promote best practices in infectious disease care.
Duties
- Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular surveillance of infection rates and trends within the facility.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure compliance with infection control measures.
- Provide education and training to staff on aseptic techniques, infection control practices, and public health guidelines.
- Review medical records for documentation accuracy related to infections and care plans.
- Monitor patient observation data to identify potential outbreaks or areas of concern.
- Conduct data collection and management for reporting purposes.
- Participate in leadership meetings to discuss infection prevention strategies and outcomes.
- Stay updated on current epidemiology trends, microbiology research, and OSHA regulations related to infection control.
- Oversee the immunization program for residents and staff.
Requirements
- Unencumbered/active license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Previous IP experience in a skilled nursing facility is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infectious disease care practices, MDS documentation, and medical terminology.
- Proficient in data management, collection, and analysis related to infection rates.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy knowledge, and public health principles.
- Experience in patient monitoring and documentation review within SNF settings.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to educate and influence staff effectively.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations as they pertain to patient information confidentiality.
