Arbor Academy is a free public charter school located in Battle Creek, Michigan that proudly serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Arbor Academy is seeking an enthusiastic leader who maintains high expectations for academic growth, prioritizes the physical, social and emotional well-being of students and cultivates an environment that fosters a sense of agency and belonging.


Ideal candidates would be experienced in developing and implementing a unified instructional vision that seamlessly integrates academic achievement with SEL competencies.

Fostering strong, collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community to support student success are expected by modeling a culture of empathy, equity, and continuous growth for all faculty and staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and supervision for all K-8 school operations.
  • Offer instructional leadership and support to classroom teachers, Title I staff, and other support personnel.
  • Conduct formal and informal classroom observations and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, parent events, and other school functions.
  • Plan and facilitate weekly staff meetings and professional development activities
  • Collaborate with staff to address student behavior, discipline, and positive behavior supports. Communicate proactively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and school matters.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment for students and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, state guidelines, and school procedures.
  • Identify and engage in his/her own professional growth in shaping professional practice.
  • Support priorities to meet the needs of students and teachers through collaboration with staff and parents.
  • Serve as the liaison between the school, the Board of Directors, and authorizer, ensuring clear communication, compliance, and effective implementation of Board policy.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Valid Michigan School Administrator Certification (or eligibility).
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience and must have a valid teaching license.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.


Preferred:

  • Demonstrated record of successful administrative experience, preferably in a K-8 or charter school setting.
  • Familiarity with MTSS/behavioral support systems.
  • Demonstrated success in instructional leadership and school climate initiatives.


Salary:
$80,000 negotiable based on credentials and experience
