Position Summary:  The role of the SafeCare Parent Support Person (PSP) is to provide the SafeCare® program to families in Arapahoe County. SafeCare® is a structured, evidenced-based program with specific protocols that include observational assessment, modeling, role-playing, and giving feedback to parents and caregivers.


SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Home Visiting:

  • Demonstrate strong engagement skills to recruit and retain clients in a voluntary, home-based service
  • Attend SafeCare® Colorado Home Visitor Training and pass all requirements for full certification and fidelity
  • Understand and adhere to SafeCare® module protocol
  • Make initial enrollment telephone calls to families referred to SafeCare® Colorado
  • Participate in weekly individual and monthly group coaching until certification is reached.  After certification, continue to participate in monthly coaching to maintain fidelity
  • Meet bimonthly with SafeCare® Colorado Supervisor
  • Carry a caseload equivalent to 12-18 clients (full-time)
  • Upload required audio recordings, documents, and information on a daily basis
  • Meet the expected Face to Face number of visits every week as determined by a caseload

 

Marketing and Outreach:

  • Because of the voluntary nature of the SafeCare® Colorado program, marketing and outreach are crucial for maintaining a strong referral base and establishing a positive reputation within the communities served by SafeCare® Colorado
  • Identify agencies within the community that serve clients who may benefit from SafeCare® Colorado and facilitate the agency’s ability to provide referrals to SafeCare® Colorado
  • Participate in outreach efforts (giving presentations, attending conferences, handing out fliers, meeting with ground level staff, etc.) to community agencies using marketing materials provided by ACECC and the Office of Early Childhood (OEC).
  • Log outreach efforts and maintain regular contact with agencies while simultaneously expanding efforts to increase visibility


GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

General Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively as a team member and individually as necessary
  • Solid computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Organize and prioritize workload
  • Work with diverse audiences
  • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends
  • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records.
  • Support the Council’s mission and vision by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect for others, commitment, accountability and ownership.
  • Drive to in-home visits and off-site meetings

Desired Characteristics/Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Comfortable delivering interventions to families in their home or a community setting. This may include going into homes that may be in poor condition for example: cluttered, dirty, dark, and not air-conditioned
  • Experience with young children/knowledge of early childhood development
  • Committed to, and skilled in building relationships with under-resourced, at-risk families
  • Open to learning and implementing new curricula of prevention and intervention programs
  • Able to be both creative and flexible in delivering services to families
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Open and responsive to supervision and feedback


Required Education and/or Experience:

  • AA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and 1-3 years’ experience in home visitation or direct services to families with young children. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Salary : $54,000 - $56,650
