About the Role
Picture your day starting with a fresh lineup of service orders. You review estimates, pull manufacturer repair manuals, and wheel a truck-mounted carpet cleaning unit into your bay. Before lunch, you’ve diagnosed a 3-cylinder gas engine misfire with testing equipment and updated the customer by phone. In the afternoon, you coordinate parts with a vendor, help a teammate with a portable carpet extractor, and tidy your station so it’s clean, organized, and safe for tomorrow.
Compensation
Pay Range: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour Monthly Bonus
What You’ll Work On
- Diagnose and repair systems and components across commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment with accuracy and efficiency.
- Use testing equipment, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer repair manuals to pinpoint issues and complete high-quality repairs.
- Evaluate equipment and clearly communicate any additional service needs identified during inspection.
- Meet or exceed service department quality and productivity targets.
- Create service orders for incoming repairs and maintain up-to-date appointments in scheduling software.
- Present estimates to customers and discuss repair options in person, by phone, and via email.
- Prepare bids for repair and service work, coordinating timelines and scope.
- Order parts and coordinate with vendors to keep repairs on track.
- Balance shop workload with fellow technicians; assist teammates and collaborate with store staff.
- Maintain and properly use shop equipment and tools while keeping your workspace clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow direction from supervisors and work effectively with all store personnel.
Equipment You’ll See
- 2, 3 & 4 cylinder gas engines and small engine platforms
- Truck-mounted carpet cleaning units and portable carpet extractors
- Hard-surface floor cleaning machines and pressure washing systems
- Duct cleaning and deodorizing equipment
- Dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, air movers
- HEPA vacuums and related restoration tools
What You Bring
- 2 years of experience preferred in one or more: commercial cleaning/restoration equipment, small engine repair/maintenance, pressure washer repair/maintenance, or vehicle repair/maintenance.
- Valid driver license with a clean record (no DUIs or careless/reckless driving in the past 3 years).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Own a basic set of mechanic’s tools.
- Strong technical aptitude, mechanical know-how, and attention to detail.
- Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and accurate diagnostic skills.
- Commitment to safety: use of safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE at all times.
- Ability to stay focused and deliver quality results on schedule.
- Capability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Professional appearance and demeanor; solid written and verbal communication; basic computer literacy.
- Occasional overtime required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a bonus.
