The Prototyping Manufacturing and Integration Division (PMID) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Facilities Supervisor working on-site at our Madison, AL facility. The Facilities Supervisor will have oversight and responsibility for two divisional facilities and workplace operations in Huntsville & Madison, AL area. These include general office spaces and always growing or evolving manufacturing environments. The role involves facilities management; which includes maintenance and vendor management, partnering with physical security, while adhering to health and safety protocols, and other related facilities and workplace responsibilities. This role is instrumental in supporting production excellence by implementing strategic plans to address the facility's operational needs, growth, while ensuring cost efficiency.
This position will require passing a national background check. Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance from the US Department of War.
Responsibilities of Facilities Supervisor:
- Oversee the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the facilities, ensuring all equipment, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems are functioning properly
- Conduct scheduled maintenance reviews and facility condition assessments for the Huntsville and Madison facilities, identifying and addressing areas requiring improvement, repair, or investment
- Manage relationships with vendors, including evaluating, selecting, and coordinating service contracts for HVAC, janitorial services, electrical maintenance, equipment, and other critical infrastructure
- Coordinate and supervise internal facility staff, facility-related contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure efficient operations
- Coordinate and oversee workplace logistics, such as office moves/relocations and decommissions, employee relocations, furniture reconfigurations, and preparation for expansions
- Ensure spaces remain functional and compliant with operational, maintenance, and safety requirements
- Monitor and manage costs related to facility operations and workplace management, ensuring adherence to guidelines and company financial standards
- Evaluate cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high standards of safety and security
- Provide regular reports to leadership on system performance, facility conditions, and key metrics
Must Haves as a Facilities Supervisor:

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years relevant Facility Management experience; OR In lieu of a degree, an H.S. diploma and 9 years’ experience as a Facilities Manager in a manufacturing field
- Proven track record in facility management and building operations
- Supervisory experience of facility technicians
- Experience in budgeting, regarding vendors, operations, supplies, and maintenance
- General knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Coordinate and supervise facility-related contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Strong computer proficiency skills with emphasis on knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook)
- Experience in Implementing sustainable and energy-efficient practices to reduce waste, conserve energy, and lower utility costs
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Independently determine and develop approach to solutions
- Work in an environment which requires sitting, sitting for long periods of time, pushing, pulling, standing, standing for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, bending, climbing, stooping, crawl, crouch, hold and move items with hand(s), multilimbed coordination, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, vision for operating industrial manufacturing machinery and must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually, 50lbs or more with assistance
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, chemical resistant garments, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required
Nice if you have the following but not a dealbreaker:
- Active / current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of War
- FMP (Facilities Management Professional), or CFM (Certified Facility Manager) certification
- Familiarity with defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries
