The Campus Minister - Service Coordinator supports the mission and identity of Aquinas College by fostering the faith formation, spiritual growth, and community engagement of the campus community. This role integrates pastoral care, spiritual programming, and service initiatives that reflect Catholic Social Teaching, the Dominican tradition, the Four Pillars of Dominican Life, and the College’s mission.
The position involves planning retreats, prayer services, and educational programs; organizing and promoting service opportunities; and mentoring students in faith and leadership. By cultivating partnerships with community organizations and local parishes, and by maintaining a visible and welcoming presence on campus, the Campus Minister - Service Coordinator helps students grow as leaders, disciples, and engaged citizens.
Essential Job Functions:
● Collaborate with the Director of Campus Ministry to design and implement spiritual programs and events.
● Assist in planning and leading retreats, prayer services, liturgies, and spiritual development opportunities.
● Provide spiritual mentorship and pastoral care to students of all faiths and those of no faith.
● Facilitate educational programs that promote Catholic Social Teaching, religious diversity, and social justice awareness.
● Serve as a visible and accessible presence on campus, engaging students in both formal and informal settings.
● Plan and organize at least one engaged learning trip per semester and coordinate ongoing volunteer initiatives with local organizations both on and off campus.
● Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, local parishes, and service agencies.
● Recruit, train, and support student participants and leaders for service activities.
● Facilitate reflection opportunities to connect service experiences with faith, justice, and the College’s mission.
● Manage logistics for trips, including transportation, accommodations, budgeting, compliance with college policies and maintain accurate records of participation, service hours, and program impact.
● Partner with other departments (e.g., AQ Advantage Center) to integrate service and ministry into broader campus initiatives.
● Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
● Represent Campus Ministry at campus-wide events, orientations, and community gatherings.
● Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
● Strong understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, the Dominican tradition, and relevant Church documents.
● At least one year of experience in ministry, pastoral care, service coordination or equivalent work.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an approachable and compassionate demeanor.
● Experience in organizing and implementing retreats, liturgies, faith-based programs, and service opportunities including but not limited to service learning/mission trips.
● Knowledge of social media platforms and basic website maintenance.
● Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
