Applicant must be in good physical condition and be capable of working a regular weekly eight (8) hour shift (Mondays through Fridays, with a half hour for lunch) and scheduled overtime as required. The applicant must have the necessary technical, mechanical, communication, and basic skills which are required to fulfill this position.

Job Summary

A position is available in Millbury/Oxford, Massachusetts for a seasonal laborer associated with the water systems in Millbury and Oxford. Principal Responsibilities
- Reading, installing, and removing customer meters with radio based and hand held equipment, including uploading and downloading meter reading route information and data.
- Repairing and maintaining fire hydrants.
- Perform general plant maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds keeping.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, and related appurtenances.
- Operate a diverse assortment of mechanical and electrical tools, including pneumatic tools, cutting, hand, and power tools.
- Possess ability to lift 75 pounds and ability to use a respirator and other safety equipment.
- Insures all activities are in compliance with company and regulator mandated procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Perform other various duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have a driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in the heat and full sun.
- Must have a high school degree.
- The base wage rate for this position is $19.56 per hour, subject to Union negotiated wage increases.
- This position will run from mid-May through the end of August
- This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible, full time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
- In accordance with the current Union contract, Union members will have first priority in the application process.
