The Work You'll Do
As a Project Engineer in AQUA's Beaverton office, you'll take a leading technical role on water resources infrastructure projects from early concept through construction and startup. You will:
- Independently lead and manage engineering tasks while working directly with our Pacific Northwest Office Lead on priority projects
- Lead task-level design efforts and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Develop and optimize water and wastewater PFDs, mass balances, and P&IDs for supply, treatment, and reuse systems
- Prepare feasibility studies, design reports, and cost estimates
- Prepare detailed design drawings and engineering documents in close coordination with AQUA's design and drafting team
- Develop project-specific technical specifications
- Collaborate directly with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate innovative technologies into project designs
- Support sampling, permitting, and detailed design efforts
- Travel to project sites as needed to meet with clients, operators, and contractors (typical travel is 5-10%)
- Construction-phase support including field review and startup testing
- Provide cross-office support for other projects, including water and wastewater master plans, water supply, conveyance, treatment, and storage infrastructure assignments

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a self-driven engineer comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and taking full ownership of project delivery from concept through execution.
- Experience: 5-10 years in civil, process, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering with an emphasis in water and wastewater planning, design, and construction management
- Education: Minimum B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (P.E. license or ability to maintain within 12 months)
- Technical Skills: Process modeling (BioWin, GPS-X, or similar), design development (Revit, Civil 3D, or similar), hydraulic modeling (Innovyze, OpenFlows, or similar), technical writing
- Mindset: Analytical, curious, and self-directed; thrives on solving complex problems and seeing designs become reality; comfortable communicating directly with clients, operators, and contractors, with strong professional judgement and the ability to represent AQUA in technical discussions, comfortable operating in a fast-moving project environment
Compensation
- Salary: approximately $95,000 - $135,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus generous profit sharing
