IT Support Technician II
Location: 100 F Street NE, Washington, DC 20549
Position Type: Onsite (Government Site – SEC Headquarters)
Duration: June 15, 2026 – December 14, 2026, with potential for full-time conversion
Schedule: Standard business hours (8-hour shifts); possible overtime with manager pre-approval
Travel: Occasional travel to SEC regional offices as required by the contract
Security Clearance: Public Trust (required prior to start)
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen
Role Summary
We are seeking an IT Support Technician II to provide Tier 2 technical support for the SEC Infrastructure Support Services (ISS2) program. This role is responsible for delivering desk-side and service desk support, resolving complex hardware and software issues, deploying enterprise workstations, managing ticket lifecycles, and ensuring exceptional customer service for SEC personnel. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior technicians and cross-functional IT teams to maintain reliable IT operations in a high-visibility federal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 support for hardware, software, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows and macOS operating system issues.
- Deliver desk-side, call-in, and walk-in technical support.
- Escalate unresolved issues with complete troubleshooting documentation.
- Manage incident and service request tickets through the enterprise ticketing system.
- Ensure ticket ownership from assignment through closure while meeting SLA requirements.
- Coordinate with internal IT teams and external support groups to resolve escalated issues.
- Perform workstation imaging, provisioning, deployment, and replacement activities.
- Configure enterprise software packages and peripheral devices.
- Validate endpoint readiness and secure connectivity for SEC users.
- Support hardware refreshes, device swaps, and asset lifecycle management.
- Assist users with best practices and technical guidance.
- Develop and maintain support documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Support operational surge requirements and on-call activities when needed.
Required Technical Skills
- Minimum 4 years of IT support experience in a service desk or desk-side support environment.
- Windows endpoint troubleshooting and support.
- macOS endpoint troubleshooting and support.
- Hardware diagnostics for desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, docking stations, and peripherals.
- Workstation imaging and deployment.
- Enterprise software installation and configuration.
- ServiceNow or comparable ITSM/ticketing platform.
- ITIL-based incident and request management.
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience supporting federal civilian agencies.
- Experience supporting VIP users.
- Experience managing high-priority incident workflows.
- Microsoft Intune.
- Microsoft 365 administration and support.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- CompTIA A certification.
- Microsoft Endpoint Support certification.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 4 years of IT support experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Experience with enterprise hardware and software support.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Washington, DC.
- U.S. Citizen only (No Dual Citizenship).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance before beginning employment.
