Civil Grading Crew

Job Purpose

Under general supervision of a crew leader, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment and light duty trucks with trailers. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties related to construction of job sites for Synthetic Turf Fields. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operates dozers, skid loaders, excavators, rollers, tractors, forklifts, & backhoes.
• May also be required to be trained & operate other heavy equipment not listed.
• Assignment to this position presumes the operation of such equipment as a regular assignment.
• Performs required manual labor in construction and maintenance projects; checks and services assigned equipment. Performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs, reports complex mechanical problems for shop repairs.
• Assists in the installation of pipe, geotextile, & other similar duties.
• Safe operation of powered & non-powered hand tools and other tools related to job.
• Trains less skilled employees in safe operation and care of equipment.
• Performs any or all duties normally assigned to less skilled employees; performs other related duties as required.
• Have considerable knowledge of safety procedures and hazards related to construction, maintenance, and equipment operation.
• May function as a lead worker, on a limited basis.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Must be drug free & pass pre-employment.
• Must be able to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures.
• Must possess a working knowledge of grades and blueprints and work layout.
• Skill in efficient operation of assigned equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and general public.
• Superior written, verbal, and negotiation/sales skills, Industry knowledge preferred

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma/GED required
• Experience: One (1) year experience as an Equipment Operator or four (4) years of experience in construction or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Courses/Certifications/Training: Must possess & maintain a valid Driver’s License. Continuing employment is dependent on ability to maintain a valid Driver’s License.

• Must possess or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Continuing employment is dependent on ability to maintain a DOT Medical Card.
• Must be drug free & pass pre-employment.
• Must be able to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures.
• Must possess a working knowledge of grades and blueprints and work layout.
• Skill in efficient operation of assigned equipment.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
