APS Properties of Marquette, MI is searching for two Apartment Maintenance Technicians to join our team. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. These are full-time positions, although we will consider part-time employment and may be able to offer flexible scheduling. Starting pay will be based on experience.
Position Summary
The Apartment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of residential apartment communities. This role performs preventative maintenance, repairs, unit turnovers, grounds maintenance, and emergency service while providing outstanding customer service to residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders promptly and professionally.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, drywall, flooring, carpentry, and painting issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and common areas.
- Prepare vacant apartments for new residents, including repairs, painting, cleaning, and inspections.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the property, including hallways, stairwells, parking lots, and amenities.
- Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal, ice control, leaf removal, and other weather-related property maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with residents regarding maintenance requests and scheduling.
- Work safely alongside contractors and specialty trades to complete projects and ensure quality workmanship.
- Inspect buildings and grounds to identify maintenance concerns before they become larger issues.
- Receive, organize, and maintain maintenance supplies, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Keep maintenance shops, storage areas, and work vehicles clean, organized, and stocked.
- Assist with deliveries, supply logistics, and material transportation throughout the property.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
-Previous apartment maintenance or general maintenance experience preferred, willing to train the right candidate.
-Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance repair.
-Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
-Excellent customer service and communication skills.
-Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred. Criminal background check required.
-Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Preferred Skills
*HVAC, EPA, or other maintenance-related certifications are a plus.
*Experience using maintenance management software.
*Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
*Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
