OVERVIEW
This contract System Administrator 3 position will provide support to Unified Communications within the IT department. This position supports Enterprise Messaging and cloud communications through Exchange Online, M365 for Government, Exchange Online Protection, Teams for Government, OneDrive for Government, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender XDR, and Microsoft Purview.
The Cloud System Administrator 3 provides service support for the division’s cloud-based Exchange Online, M365 for Government, Teams for Government, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender XDR, and Microsoft Purview, as well as messaging system support to facilitate sustainable, stable and secure enterprise, on-prem level servers including backup recovery, performance tuning, upgrades/patches, maintenance, troubleshooting, archiving, and litigation hold and e-discovery support.
The Cloud System Administrator 3 performs a variety of work related to administrating and supporting the Unified Communications team.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administration of Exchange Online
- Provide administration of Defender for M365 Exchange Online Protection
- Provide administration of Teams for Government
- Provide administration of OneDrive for Government (SharePoint integration)
- Provide administration of M365 for Government
- Support identity & access management and role provisioning through Entra ID
- Support M365/Entra ID services to enable service access and hybrid-cloud integration with on-prem systems
- ITSM ticketing and/or incident management requests
- Provide technical expertise to Help Desk regarding calls related to M365 services. Work with the appropriate vendor technical resources on escalation problem items for Cloud Service Provider Enterprise Messaging Support team.
- Provide administrative and technical support for enterprise messaging systems, including:
- Install and configure Exchange messaging/SMTP server hardware on-prem including operating systems on physical servers, virtual environments or to cloud enclaves.
- Provide administration of Enterprise Exchange 2019/2025 SE, Exchange On-line Messaging and on-prem Servers.
- Provide patching, maintenance and support of existing on-prem Messaging system products and services.
- Support cluster/disaster recovery and facilitate continuous high availability of business-critical Messaging tools.
- Facilitate and participate in information technology planning, provide analytical support, and coordinate technical resources and efforts with other departments.
- Perform analysis of system capability; develop functional and system requirements; complete business process design and workflow; verify integration with other modules, system components, and other corporate applications.
- Apply and maintain systems-related security documentation and act as a secondary collaboration point of contact for the corporate Office of Cyber Security and Physical Security organizations for issues related to cloud and on-prem Enterprise Messaging, Teams for Government, M365 for Government, e-discovery and Litigation Holds. Supports Enterprise Messaging security requirements and verify timelines are implemented and complied with.
- Facilitate user/stakeholder interviews and joint requirements planning sessions. Drafts requirements documentation: reviews with user representatives, recommends priorities and obtains user signoff.
- Provide cross training and functional documentation of subject matter [Entra ID and M365 components] to specific corporate audiences.
- Participate in corporate process workshops.
- Provide the full range of Entra ID, M365, Enterprise Messaging, Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online administration support.
- Provide assistance in analysis of system capability.
- Participate in information technology planning.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Technology (or related technical field) is preferred.
- With an applicable Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, 8 years of experience is required.
- Without an applicable degree, 10 years of experience is required.
- Experience must include direct work experience in Information Technology performing cloud-based system & service administration.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- 2 years of experience with scripting skills sufficient to maintain Exchange Online, Entra ID, and M365 environments.
- 5 years of experience troubleshooting hybrid and cloud-based system level problems.
- Ability to interpret architecture and design configurations from vendors or other teams to enable clear implementation standards and guidelines.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with implementation of Teams Phone/Calling: sip trunk, Direct Routing and Session Border Control knowledge.
- Experience with managing and maintaining Microsoft cloud-based technologies.
- Experience working with Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) filtration system or Email Filtration/E-mail protection technology.
- Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authority.
- Experience with High Availability Technologies.
- Experience working in a large production environment.
