An aerospace client is looking for a CNC Machinist who will set-up and operate a variety of machines such as lathes, mills, manual shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Location: Beltsville, MD 20705 (Onsite)
Position: CNC Machinist
Pay Rate: $34.85/hr. - $41.62/hr. on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: 9x80 A
Shift: 2nd shift (2pm to 11pm)
**Starting on day shift and move to second shift after training. 2pm to 11pm**

Responsibilities:
- Will set-up and operate a variety of machines such as lathes, mills, manual shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
- Machine set-up
- Interpret Blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of set-up.
- Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Measures, marks and scribes’ dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
- Some machines may be numerically controlled.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other procedures.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience.
- Experience operating CNC machines in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with reading and writing CNC programs
- Experience with wire EDM
- Experience with GD&T
