Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques across diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and hospital inpatients.
- Manage biological samples with precision, ensuring proper labeling, processing, and transportation in accordance with CLIA regulations and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of specimen collection, processing steps, and patient information within laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with patients, addressing their concerns, and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Adhere strictly to clinical confidentiality policies and ensure patient privacy during all interactions.
- Support laboratory management by assisting with specimen inventory control, data entry accuracy, and maintaining compliance with laboratory safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals in hospital or clinic settings to facilitate smooth specimen collection workflows and ensure timely results delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including phlebotomy and specimen collection/processing.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, spinal tap procedures, and catheterization.
- Familiarity with CLIA regulations, laboratory procedures, and biological sample management standards.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Certification or training in basic life support (BLS) is preferred.
- Experience working within hospital environments or research laboratories is highly advantageous.
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to manage data entry accurately within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and handle biological samples efficiently.
