Responsibilities
- Travel to patient locations such as homes, clinics, or hospitals to perform blood draws and specimen collection with precision and care.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and documentation of specimens following strict laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition to ensure comfort and safety during collection procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques and adhere to infection control standards throughout all procedures.
- Process collected specimens accurately for transport to the laboratory, including proper handling and storage.
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding procedures, answer questions about the process, and provide excellent patient service to foster trust and comfort.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to heavy lifting, blood sampling techniques, physiology knowledge, and anatomy understanding to optimize procedure success.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and clinical laboratory work essential for accurate specimen collection.
- Proficiency in venipuncture (blood drawing) techniques along with experience in blood sampling and specimen processing.
- Previous hospital or healthcare setting experience enhances your ability to navigate complex environments confidently.
- Excellent patient service skills combined with a professional attitude ensure positive interactions during every visit.
