Opportunity Summary

Join a growing aerospace robotics company developing automated systems used to manufacture and maintain aircraft structures. The team designs and deploys robotic equipment that performs complex manufacturing operations directly on aerospace hardware, combining mechanical design, automation, electromechanical systems, and precision tooling. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to solve challenging mechanical design problems across robotic and automated manufacturing systems. You will design electromechanical assemblies, tooling, and mechanisms from early concepts through detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, and deployment. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys owning real hardware and working closely with manufacturing and robotics teams.

About Us

We are a growing aerospace and robotics company designing, manufacturing, and deploying automated systems for industrial and aerospace applications. Our hardware operates in production and maintenance environments where reliability, precision, and ease of use are critical. Engineers work closely across mechanical, controls, software, manufacturing, and field operations to move systems from initial concepts into deployed hardware.

Job Duties
  • Design mechanical and electromechanical systems for robotic and automated aerospace manufacturing applications
  • Develop mechanisms, tooling, fixtures, and multi-position assemblies for precision manufacturing operations
  • Translate customer and system requirements into practical mechanical designs
  • Own mechanical designs from concept through detailed engineering, fabrication, assembly, and deployment
  • Perform engineering calculations including free-body diagrams, load analysis, lifecycle calculations, and design trade studies
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models using SolidWorks
  • Produce manufacturing-ready part and assembly drawings using GD&T
  • Apply design for manufacturing principles throughout product development
  • Select mechanical components including actuators, linear motion hardware, bearings, structural components, and other machine elements
  • Work directly with machine shops, suppliers, technicians, and integrators to bring designs into physical hardware
  • Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
  • Create work orders and assembly instructions for technicians
  • Provide hands-on production and quality support during system builds
  • Develop bills of materials, work instructions, maintenance documentation, and other product documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate technical decisions across engineering teams
  • Support deployed systems and incorporate lessons learned into future designs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 4 years of professional mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience
  • Hands-on experience developing robotics, automation, aerospace, or other complex electromechanical hardware
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks for mechanical design and detailed drawings
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals including engineering mechanics, materials, machine elements, and failure prevention
  • Experience creating production-ready part and assembly drawings
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and design for manufacturing
  • Experience designing parts and assemblies for machined and fabricated metal components
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and make sound mechanical design decisions
  • Experience supporting hardware through manufacturing, assembly, and troubleshooting
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving engineering environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace robotics or industrial automation experience
  • Design of multi-position electromechanical mechanisms or precision automated equipment
  • Experience with linear rails, actuators, motion systems, or closed-loop position sensing
  • Mechanical design experience involving drilling, probing, fastening, filling, or similar automated manufacturing processes
  • Finite element analysis experience
  • CATIA experience
  • Product data management software experience
  • Experience creating and maintaining bills of materials
  • Experience developing robotic systems used in manufacturing or production environments

Why Join Us
  • Work directly on robotic systems used in aerospace manufacturing and maintenance
  • Own mechanical hardware from initial design through manufacturing and deployment
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers across robotics, automation, manufacturing, and aerospace
  • Opportunity to solve challenging mechanical design problems with direct impact on deployed hardware
