Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics & E-Drivetrain Inverters located in Peoria, IL / Mossville, IL. The responsibilities include supporting in-production high-voltage traction inverters used in electric drivetrain systems, performing lab testing and root-cause analysis for field issues, validating corrective actions, supporting cost-reduction projects, qualifying suppliers, and managing component obsolescence. You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, thermal, quality, manufacturing, purchasing, supplier, and global engineering teams to support product health, design updates, validation, technical documentation, and production-readiness activities. This role requires someone who understands power electronics, inverter topology, high-voltage systems, testing, troubleshooting, validation, failure analysis, and electric drivetrain applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, or 6 years with a Master’s degree
- Strong understanding of electric drivetrain inverters, including topology, control, design, testing, manufacturing, and validation
- Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting high-voltage, high-power traction inverter systems
- Experience with power electronics validation, root-cause analysis, field failure investigation, and corrective action development
- Ability to plan and execute testing, including fixture setup, instrumentation, measurement equipment, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Proficiency with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, high-voltage differential probes, current transducers, thermal chambers, high-voltage power supplies, high-current power supplies, and data loggers
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical requirements, specifications, and design documentation
- Familiarity with CPI, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, supplier qualification, component obsolescence, or production-readiness processes is preferred
- Familiarity with IPC 600/650 and IEC 60204/60664/61557 standards is preferred
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, Excel, JBER, or similar test-data analysis tools
- Ability to work with global engineering teams across the U.S., India, China, and Europe
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions, support design reviews, and work across a matrix organization
- Self-starter who can assess program status, identify issues, create action items, and drive solutions independently
- Experience with heavy equipment, off-highway machinery, automotive electrification, EV systems, traction inverters, motor drives, or industrial power electronics is a plus
- Ability to work on-site in office and lab environments, including use of required PPE such as steel-toe shoes and safety eyewear
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically
