Job Title: Electrician
Job Summary:
Repairs and Maintains Electronic Equipment. Service, repair, troubleshoots, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, and test machines, devices, electrical systems, conductors, and associated equipment at a wood processing manufacturing site.
This position reports to the Electrical Manager and the employee must be able to work independently as well as part of an electrical team of electricians, with maintenance/millwright personnel, and the reliability team while maintaining a high level of professionalism and commitment to plant Safety, Quality of Work, and be Production minded.
Job Duties:
- Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermocouples, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair of main service distribution panels with 480 or 240 volts, and up to medium voltage of 4160.
- Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches, and switch gears as needed.
- Inspect job upon completion and ensure area is clean.
- Follow all required safety protocols, e.g., LOTO procedures, confined space entry, proper PPE at all times, using proper lanyard & tie off when operating aerial/scissor lifts.
Job Requirements:
- Able to operate lifts and be able to work from elevated heights up to 100’
- Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Must maintain good housekeeping within the department
- Responsible for reporting and documenting damage to equipment or property
- Able to perform tasks with minimal supervision from Maintenance Manager
- Must be able to work shift schedule, (days off varies, 7am-7pm and/or 7pm-7am), overtime when needed
- Must be able to bend, sit, reach, stand, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. without any difficulties
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, (hot, cold, wet, and dry)
- Adhere to policies within the employee handbook
Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience with industrial controls background preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience working in a wood processing manufacturing site is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
- Must pass required pre-employment examinations.
- Ability to perform physical exertions including medium to heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, stair or ladder climbing, and other construction/maintenance activities for 8 to 12-hour shifts.
- Industrial Electrical diploma is preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
