SUMMARY: The part-time Mobile Wastewater Operator provides support to the New England Operations team and provides operational coverage to projects based out of the Fall River office location with both during week and weekend coverage duties. This position includes part-time during week operational coverage and sampling at wastewater facilities in the Southeastern Massachusetts area, and weekend coverage for the Gillette Stadium Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Facility, wherein daily operational coverage is required along with daily sample collection wherein laboratory drop off is required. In this position, the mobile wastewater operator monitors and adjusts the various treatment processes to ensure compliance with all permits and regulatory agencies, collects and records data and wastewater samples from their assigned facilities, and performs preventative maintenance on equipment as per the operations and maintenance manuals for the contracted facilities. The mobile wastewater operator is an independent and well-organized self-starter who can manage his or her schedule to complete assigned site coverage requirements as noted below. The mobile wastewater operator ideally will have at least a grade 5C wastewater treatment license for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3 days per week operational coverage support for wastewater projects based out of the Fall River office location.
  • Weekend operational coverage for Gillette Stadium, along with sample drop off at contracted Lab (Saturday and Sundays, Holidays).
  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc.
  • Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports as required by facilities permits.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations.
  • Assist in preparing monthly written operating reports based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required.
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
  • Required to be part of an on-call rotation.
  • Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel.
  • Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance.
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal.
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work weekends and occasional holidays for assigned routes.
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
  • Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of wastewater experience, preferred but not required
  • 24 -hour work week: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 11:30am. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 7:00am – 11:30am.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Good organizational skills, high level of attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Valid MA Driver’s License
  • MA Grade 5C Wastewater license (Active and Full)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Experience

  • Occasionally exposed to loud noise (examples: metal can manufacturing, large earth-moving equipment)
