Estates & Trusts Paralegal (Pittsburgh, PA)
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in drafting and preparing estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, irrevocable life insurance trusts, and related instruments.
Support estate and trust administration by collecting asset information, preparing inventories, coordinating valuations and appraisals, marshalling assets, and facilitating transfers and distributions.
Prepare and file probate petitions, Orphans’ Court documents, accountings, inventories, and other required filings in contested and non-contested matters.
Conduct legal and factual research on probate, estate, trust, and tax issues; summarize findings and prepare materials for attorney review.
Communicate effectively with clients, beneficiaries, banks, financial institutions, accountants, and other third parties to gather information, coordinate actions, and provide status updates.
Prepare fiduciary accountings, track income and expenses, handle bill payments, and assist with preparation of federal and state estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.
Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, manage calendars, and prioritize tasks across multiple active matters.
Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience; prior hands-on experience in estate planning, estate and trust administration, and/or probate required.
Familiarity with Orphans’ Court procedures and litigation support (preferred).
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with document management systems a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with attorneys, clients, and external parties.
Proactive, team-oriented, forward-thinking, and capable of working independently with sound judgment.
Details:
Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
