AppleOne Employment Services is partnering with a respected owner organization in the South Florida public sector to identify an experienced Assistant Director of Construction Management. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys overseeing large-scale capital improvement programs while leading project teams and collaborating with executive leadership.

This is a fully onsite position based in Hollywood, Florida, with occasional travel to project sites throughout the region. A company vehicle or mileage reimbursement will be provided for business travel.

Compensation

• $150,000–$190,000 annually
• Exceptional candidates may be considered above the posted range.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed to support project requirements.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Construction Management serves as a key member of the Construction Management leadership team, supporting the Director in overseeing departmental operations, capital improvement initiatives, and construction project delivery from planning through completion.

This individual will help manage departmental priorities, lead project managers and technical staff, coordinate with consultants and stakeholders, and assist in presenting project recommendations to executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with extensive experience managing complex commercial construction programs and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in leading the daily operations of the Construction Management Department.
• Support the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple capital improvement and commercial construction projects.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to Project Managers and departmental staff.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Assist in developing departmental priorities, project assignments, budgets, and timelines.
• Review project proposals and prepare recommendations for executive leadership.
• Ensure projects comply with organizational standards, policies, budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.
• Support the administration of the Capital Improvement Program.
• Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and construction management expertise throughout all phases of project delivery.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing commercial construction projects.
• Strong leadership experience overseeing project teams and multiple concurrent projects.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred

• Experience working on large capital improvement programs.
• Background working for owners, municipalities, public agencies, or institutional organizations.
• Civil Engineering experience combined with significant construction management experience is highly desirable.
