What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Supply Chain Planner position at AppleOne Employment Services?
Responsibilities
- Represents the work group to Senior Leadership and CMC Teams by communication of progress against goals.
- Converts Clinical demand into supply requirements for Clinical trials and communicates demand to supporting manufacturing groups.
- Maintains supply/demand tools.
- Plans/executes necessary API manufacturing campaigns.
- Manages inventory movement to maintain adequate depot levels.
- Supports vendor management activities.
- Supports clinical supplies initiatives.
- Attends/leads required meetings to communicate milestones and challenges that are facing current and upcoming projects.
In simple terms:
- You sit between clinical teams (who need drugs for trials) and manufacturing teams (who make the drugs)
You figure out:
- “How much drug do we need, when, and where?”
Then you:
- Convert that clinical need into a manufacturing plan
- Coordinate API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) production runs
- Manage inventory shipments to trial sites (depots)
- Track supply vs demand so trials don’t get delayed
You also:
- Update planning tools (Excel/system-based forecasting)
- Manage vendors and external partners
- Communicate progress, risks, and delays to leadership
- Lead meetings and keep everyone aligned
Bottom line:
If this person fails → clinical trials get delayed due to drug shortages
If they succeed → trials run smoothly with zero supply issues
