About the Role
A highly respected State of South Carolina agency is urgently seeking a skilled Business Analyst to ensure its digital content meets stringent federal accessibility standards. Due to newly issued Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations relating to web accessibility, this is a mission-critical role.
You will be responsible for assessing and remediating hundreds of public-facing court forms and orders offered in .docx and .pdf formats to achieve WCAG 2.1 AA compliance (as applied through WCAG2ICT). If you are an expert in document tagging, logical structure, and ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Do
- Review and remediate a large volume of existing court forms in fillable Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
- Apply deep, hands-on knowledge to implement solutions for document tagging, alt text, reading order, logical structure, and form fields to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Work independently to ensure all assigned documents pass accessibility validation tools and assistive technology testing.
- Collaborate with court administration teams to track the status of documents and ensure compliance.
- Assist in training staff on best practices for creating accessible documents.
- Research laws, analyze policies, and interpret complex regulations to bring the agency into full ADA compliance.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- 7-12 years of overall experience in document accessibility testing and remediation.
- 3 years of hands-on remediation experience for Microsoft Word documents to WCAG 2.1 AA standards (focus on styles, headings, alt text, and reading order).
- 3 years of hands-on remediation experience for PDFs to WCAG 2.1 AA standards (focus on tagging, logical structure, forms, and links).
- 3 years of experience utilizing accessibility testing tools.
- Proven ability to research laws, analyze policies, and interpret complex regulations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with relevant technology such as compliance management software.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with court forms, orders, or legal document systems.
- Knowledge of UX compliance best practices.
- Certification such as CPACC or IAAP ADS.
